Skinaria is an undiscovered gem of southern Crete. This area is just 5km east of the small resort of Plakias with all its amenities, and 2km from the village of Lefcogia. From the centre of Lefcogia a small road winds around the headland revealing views of the Libyan Sea and the distant White Mountains. The hills fold themselves into a valley and down to a sheltered sandy cove. Skinaria Cove is renowned for its crystal clear water and is popular with divers as well as those who enjoy a secluded sandy beach. It is an idyllic place that is both beautiful and peaceful, but is located only a few minutes from Plakias where there are plenty of shops, Tavernas, bars, a long sandy beach and a harbour. The north coast town of Rethymno is about 30 minutes away by car. Chania is 1½ hours and Iraklion 2 hours.
